25 Bold Things To Do During The Coronavirus

With our on-the-go society, it’s been a bit of a culture shock to have our routine suddenly come to a stand-still. Many of us are staying at home to help flatten the curve, and in the process, we’re running out of things to do. We’re getting a little stir-crazy.

Here are some fun, goofy, and hopefully useful things to do to keep you occupied during the shelter at home initiative:

Start a journal or blog. Have you always wanted to pour out your thoughts and feelings? Try writing them down in a journal. Or, maybe dust off that old blog and make it relevant again. 

Mix up a new cocktail. You know you have the alcohol already. Play around and come up with a new drink. And, be sure to name it!

Try your skill at a musical instrument. Go online and find lessons on how to practice your instrument of choice.

Organize your kitchen cabinets. We all plan to clean out the clutter and junk in the kitchen, but never have the time or inclination to do it. Pull it all out and purge.

Read a book. A really big one. Tackle the J.R.R. Tolkien “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. Or, read the whole Harry Potter series. 

Meditate. Find a quiet place to sit and meditate. Let your worries and anxieties go and believe that this too shall pass.

Bake a decadent dessert. Sometimes you just need to feed your sweet tooth.

Hold poetry mike night. Even if it’s the most terrible thing you’ve ever heard, it will be good for some laughs.

Try crocheting or knitting. Crocheting and knitting are very relaxing. The same goes for embroidery and quilting. Creating something is an extremely satisfying feeling.

Work on yoga poses. Try some weird or difficult yoga moves. You may challenge yourself or you may fail miserably, but it will be fun.

Wipe down the baseboards. Most of us probably wipe down our baseboards about every 20 years. So, now’s the time to give them a good wipe!

Get out the legos. Legos bring out the kid in everyone. Build a house, castle, helicopter, or dragon. Let your imagination go wild.

Play a drawn-out board game. Now is the time to play the mother of all board games. Drag out the game and make sure the winner shames everyone.

Try a hard recipe. Have a dish that you really want to make but it intimidates the heck out of you. Give it a try – you might surprise yourself!

Do a scavenger hunt. Hide clues around the house or in the yard and make a map to find the buried treasure or pot of gold.

Learn a foreign language. Go online and find an app or course to help you learn a second language. 

Work on your drawing. Remember being a kid and drawing whatever you wanted? Grab a pencil and start sketching.

Scrapbook your favorite pictures. Pick out a few recent photos on your phone and print them out. Make a collage in a picture frame and hang it on the wall.

Take an online class. It’s always good to learn something new and stretch your imagination.

Sew something. Sew on a button. Make a throw pillow. Go online and find a quilt pattern. Do something crafty.

Listen to podcasts. Or an audiobook. Go online and search podcasts or audiobooks that interest you.

Get out a coloring book. Or find printable coloring pages online. Channel your inner child – color outside the lines if you want.

Complete a jigsaw puzzle. The bigger the better, like 2,000 pieces. Or do a crossword puzzle or Sudoku. 

Go viral on TikTok. Create a short dance, lip-sync, or show off another hidden talent.
