Want to create a connected workforce? Then, grab your mobile phone.
The majority of American workers have a mobile device. And, we all know how to use mobile apps. It just makes sense to create a connected workplace for your employees using a mobile app.
Your employees want to be valued, engaged, and respected by your company. They want to have a strong sense of purpose and pride in their workplace. It takes a forward-thinking employer to develop a culture that nurtures employees and gives them the flexibility to work remotely and work anywhere, at any time.
Here are 7 steps to creating a more connected and productive mobile workplace:
Manage remote employees based on end results
Your remote employees will have individual styles of working. Some may get up at 5am and have a half day of work under their belts by 9am. Then, take a few hours for errands and get back to work in the afternoon. Others may work regular 9 to 5 hours. Rather than trying to micro-manage how employees get work done, look at the quality of work being produced and if deadlines are being met on time.
Schedule regular team meetings
It’s important to establish regular check-ins with your remote workers. Set up weekly or bi-weekly status calls to discuss upcoming projects and any issues with workloads. When possible use video webinars and screen sharing to see everyone and allow remote workers to share information. Also, spend some time just chatting with everyone to see how your employees are doing personally and professionally.
Encourage teamwork and collaboration
While working out of the office, your employees may feel less in the loop. Encourage team members to work together virtually. Your staff will feel more connected with each other, and your team will collaborate more and have better communication.
Share your organization’s vision and goals with your remote workers. Let them know their work contributes to your business and the bottom line. Provide everyone with updates on what’s happening within the organization, so that your employees feel invested and a valuable part of the team.
Provide training and mobile learning
Remote workers may need training on new technologies or mobile apps, such as video chat, web meetings, and tools for productivity, such as Slack, Dropbox, Google Docs, Trello, Wrike, and more. Being trained to use these tools remotely will give them access to valuable content and resources they may need on a day-to-day basis.
Be inclusive and foster relationships
Your remote employees will long for some of interactions that used to happen in the office, such as training sessions, office birthday parties, or company outings. Make sure that your remote workers receive the same training and get the same praise and recognition as they would if they were in the office. Do little things for remote workers, such as send them some company bling to thank them for a job well done.
Deliver a connected workforce mobile app
A connected workforce unifies the mobile workplace and provides employees with the tools they need to thrive in any situation. By providing a connected workforce mobile app to promote teamwork and connectivity, your business can transform your corporate culture and create an environment that fosters innovation, productivity, communication, and a higher level of job satisfaction.
